proEXPLO 2026 3rd International Student Competition Selects Five Finalists in First Evaluation Round
The initiative promotes young talent and research in mining exploration at a global level.
Lima, April 9, 2026.- The Organizing Committee of the 15th International Congress of Prospectors and Explorers (proEXPLO 2026) announced the results of the first evaluation round of the 3rd International Student Competition, selecting five finalists who will advance to the next stage: one in the oral presentation category and four in the poster category.
The competition has established itself as a key platform for showcasing young talent and promoting geoscientific research as a driver of sustainable mining development, within the framework of proEXPLO 2026, the leading mining exploration event in Latin America.
The competition is open to undergraduate, bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD students from academic institutions worldwide, as well as geologists and geological engineers who defended their theses in 2025. Participants present innovative research in oral or poster format, addressing strategic topics for the sector.
The submissions under evaluation cover a wide range of thematic areas, including: discoveries and advances in greenfield and brownfield exploration projects; technological innovation applied to mineral resource exploration; advances in geosciences; commodities and capital markets; environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues; inclusion and diversity; education; and legal frameworks and permitting.
The judging panel, composed of recognized industry experts, will continue evaluating the finalists, with final results to be announced during the congress.
proEXPLO 2026 will bring together professionals, investors, academics, and government representatives from around the world to exchange knowledge, experience, and new technologies applied to mining exploration.
