proEXPLO 2025 will focus on inclusion and diversity, key pillars for the future of mining

Adriana Aurazo, member of the event's organizing committee, highlighted the participation of women and diverse professionals in the mining industry.

Lima, February 21, 2025 Inclusion and diversity aspects in the mining industry will also be addressed at the International Congress of Prospectors and Explorers (proEXPLO 2025). This was announced by Adriana Aurazo, member of the Organizing Committee of this year's edition. During her intervention as a panelist in a special Mining Thursday (Jueves Minero), organized by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP), she highlighted the participation of women in the organization of the event, as well as the plurality of professionals that converge in this event.

Aurazo highlighted that proEXPLO 2025 has become a key platform not only to boost mineral exploration, but also to promote the exchange of ideas between professionals from different parts of the world. This is an opportunity to address technical advances as well as social and cultural issues that directly impact the future of mining.

“proEXPLO 2025 is not only an opportunity to work with top professionals, but also allows us to learn more about other specialties. In my case, I will address issues of inclusion and diversity from the perspective of education and talent. proEXPLO 2025 will bring us new developments in academia, business, as well as investment and competitiveness,” she said.

Aurazo emphasized that the presence of women in key positions within the exploration event is a reflection of the event's commitment to gender equity. Proof of this is the appointment of Lorena Carrillo as head of Environment, Governance and Society; and the appointment of Regina Baumgartner as head of the Keynote Speeches.

Professional diversity

proEXPLO 2025 will also welcome a wide range of experts from different disciplines, promoting a multidisciplinary approach to mining. Professionals from different areas, such as geology, environmental engineering, economics, social management and sustainability, will meet to offer a comprehensive view of the challenges and opportunities in mining exploration.

The industry faces major challenges, such as adapting to new technologies, improving working conditions, and finding solutions for environmental protection. In this regard, Aurazo recalled that out of 45 exploration projects, only one will be converted into exploitation.

“proEXPLO is going to be that legacy we need for mining to continue to move forward, to grow and to be a source of pride for all of us,” she emphasized at the IIMP event.
